What Sets Me Apart From Other Hawaii Location Photographers

There are several things that I do differently from other Hawaii Photographers. First, I GUARANTEE your will be THRILLED with the portraits I make for you. That's a Money Back Guarantee!

I started at a very young age with photography, back in the days of Film and Dark Rooms. And I've studied the Art and Science of photography ever since. In 1982 I graduated from the NY Institute of Photography, so I really know photography and what my cameras and lights can do, and how to create the image I want.

As mentioned above on this page, I meet with my Clients before the photography so I can get an understanding of the personalities, find out what is desired for the portraits, and start working out how to pose and light my Client to their best advantage. All this contributes to the success of the portrait session. I don't know of any other Photographer in Hawaii who does this.

Unlike all other Oahu Photographers, I do not offer pre-set packages. I never want to force you into anything you don't want. At the Preview of your photographs you tell me what you want and design your own Custom Portrait Collection. This way you get exactly what you want in Finish, Sizes and Quantity. Then I will apply a Custom Collection Discount to your total order.

As an artist who puts my heart and soul into creating the finest, most beautiful portraits for every Client I work for, and who takes pride in my work, I do not make paper "proofs" or post unfinished images online. I'm very particular about my work and don't want anything leaving my hands that isn't finished to be as beautiful as it can possibly be. So, we'll get together and preview your photographs by projecting them into a framed canvas at an adequate size for you to be able to really see the expressions and composition. This way you also will get an idea of what your portraits will look like enlarged and displayed on your walls at home. And it's a lot of FUN!

I personally do artwork and enhancements to every photograph you select in order to turn them into fine portraits. All other Photographers in Hawaii charge extra for any enhancements or "retouching".

A whole lot of Hawaii Photographers, as well as elsewhere follow the "Shoot and Burn" business model. (Make 1000+ exposures and something is bound to turn out decent. Edit out the worst ones and burn the rest to disc and turn it over to the Client.) I do not. Again, I take a lot of pride in my work, and I Guarantee it will be the highest quality. I can't guarantee anything if someone else does the printing and finishing of portraits I create. I've seen some horrible printing, and I've fired every printer in Hawaii, and a number on the mainland. So I maintain quality control by doing all the printing and finishing myself.

I use only the very finest portrait media and state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly, Giclee printing process for your portraits. Then I add an Art Guard protective coating that adds longevity to your portraits. I know of no other Photographer in Hawaii who is as meticulous about this as I am.

I have been a Professional Portrait Photographer in Hawaii for over 30 years now, but I began my portrait photography career right out of high school, the summer of my senior year in California. I have always loved art, and wanted to be a professional artist since I was in third grade! I discovered photography in junior high school, and since people have always been my favorite subjects, portrait photography just seemed to be my natural calling.

While at first I learned photography from library books, I later took photography classes in high school, and eventually studied with the New York Institute of Photography, graduating in 1982.

As I said before, I've been a Hawaii photographer for over 30 years. I started my Hawaii Portrait Photography on Kauai in 1976, then on Maui, the Big Island, Lanai and Molokai. For the last 17 years as a Professional Honolulu Portrait Photographer I have specialized in creating fine Family Portraits, Childrens Portraits, and Senior Portraits. So while I've been trained in, and have a ton of experience in commercial, wedding and event photography, people remain my favorite to photograph, and Family Portraits, Children Portraits, and Senior Portraits are what I'm passionate about!

Oh yes, I do have a studio available, and it comes in handy for Boudoir, Maternity and Baby Portraits, (as well as product photography), but I prefer creating portraits at a location that has meaning for you. Simply because Hawaii provides the most beautiful environment for portrait photography in the world, and it adds to the overall personal value your Portraits will have for you.
